Join us for the opening of our major fall exhibition “Treading the Borders: Immigration and the American Stage” (On view September 4–December 15, 2018).

Much of the richness and vitality of the performing arts in the United States derives from creative talent originating elsewhere. This exhibition explores how successive waves of immigration transformed the American stage, highlighting the virtuosity and resilience of a diverse group of actors, artists, and entertainers from the colonial era to the present day.

This event is free and open to the public.

Edison & Newman Room

The room, its programs, and its exhibitions are supported by the generosity of the Edison and Newman families (Bernard A. Edison AB 1949, MBA 1951; Julian I. Edison AB 1951, MBA 1953; Andrew E. Newman AB 1966, MBA 1968). Located on the first floor of Houghton Library, this room serves as a location for a variety of public programs.
